0 MY REVIEW: Giorgio Armani ‘s Lasting Silk UV Foundation

  • January 29, 2013
  • Mai Al Moayyed
  • · Face · Foundation

I am actually in love with this foundation! I’ve had it for a while now- just had to make sure I love it so I can actually review it!

The Giorgio Armani “Lasting Silk UV foundation” looks very similar to the Designer lift and luminous silk foundation from Armani in terms of packaging- however- it works very differently!

20130129-215059.jpg

Just in case you are wondering, it is available in Sax Fifth Avenue (Bahrain). This foundation is available in 8 shades.

20130129-215105.jpg

According to Armani, the Lasting Silk UV foundation is made for extreme backstage conditions – staying up to 14 hours. It also contains SPF 20 :)

After testing the product I realized that this foundation is very light weight in terms of formula- ( the majority of Armani’s foundations are light weight)-and what I loved about it – it felt like second skin.. Very natural and flawless. It gives off such a beautiful and healthy glow! If you are tired of matte foundations- then try this for a change- for a beautiful satin finish! The coverage I would say it is light to medium… so if you have major imperfections this won’t really cover (you would need to correct/conceal).

20130129-215114.jpg

If you look closely at the bottle you will see fine shimmers.. This will give your skin a luminescent glow!

It is an award winner too: Allure Best of Beauty Award Winner, Allure “Best Medium Coverage Foundation” 2010 Award Winner and CEW Beauty Awards 2010 Finalist, “Best Face Product Prestige”

This foundation however is water based… meaning that it will work great for oily skin and normal skin. If you have dry skin or dry patches- this product will not work well with it. For dry skin I do recommend the Luminous silk foundation. But anyways it is very moisturizing and you barely feel like you have anything on your face.

20130129-215110.jpg

I love using it with a Sigma Beauty “flat kabuki” F80 brush or a Real Technique’s “buffing brush”. I just love working it into my skin with a buffer since it’s very lightweight.

20130129-215139.jpg

I’m slightly disappointed- as Armani claims it will stay up to 14 hours- this doesn’t. I would give it maximum 6hours.. and that is with a proper base & a fixant.

What I also love doing is NOT applying any powder on top! It’s your choice to (if you want it to set), but I don’t want to remove that dewy glowy look- so I just leave it as it is and use cream/liquid blush and highlighters to give a healthier look than a mattified one.

See below for pictures on how the foundation looks like

20130129-215117.jpg

Starting to blend the product

20130129-215128.jpg

The picture below shows after blending- see how the skin looks cleaner, fresher, healthier & more glowing!

20130129-215123.jpg

It’s a pricey product though- compared to other foundations in the market such as MAC etc.

3 My review: Pre-launch NEW MAKEUPFOREVER PRO-FINISH POWDER FOUNDATION

  • January 13, 2013
  • Mai Al Moayyed
  • · Face · Foundation · Miscellaneous

I’m thrilled to have the all new Make Up For Ever’s Pro Finish Multi-Use Powder Foundation in my hands! This product is not yet sold in Bahrain ( as of today JAN 13,2013)- I have the product pre it’s launch here and I’m glad to review it for you girls- so that you will know what to expect from it and what to know before buying it!

20130113-010519.jpg

It is one of those powders that I’m sure girls will love- especially those girls who love compact foundations and love to use them in the morning! You will be able to transform this foundation to a different texture for a completely different look.

When will it launch?

The pro-finish will launch soon in Bahrain- Mid to end of MARCH 2013. It will be sold for BD 18 – and it will come in 24 shades

20130113-010633.jpg

What is it?

A multiuse powder foundation with a patent-pending formula that can be applied wet or dry for buildable coverage and a customized finish.

20130113-010550.jpg
It has a special formula (with ‘vegetal coated bio-mimetic pigments’ which lets you basically customize the result and texture of your foundation.

You have the choice to apply it dry for a matte finish full coverage result, or wet to get a satin finish sheer coverage.

20130113-010610.jpg

Why is it special?

This product- believe it or not- took Dany Sanz (Creator & Artistic Director) more than six years to make. She has tested more than 70 different formulations and finally settled with this one. She wanted a multi-use formula with different finishes and different coverage levels.

This compact foundation is very different than the previous ones in their permanent products- as it allows you to customize it to how you want to use it.

20130113-010529.jpg

My verdict

I’m very impressed- honestly- I’m not a fan of compact powdered foundations- and you do realize that I barely blog about them. But this one- swept me off my feet!!

I have been waiting to get my hands on this powder for a while and I’m lucky I did- I had a 6th sense that it will be good to me.

20130113-010620.jpg

The texture was very lightweight- it blends beautifully into your skin- If it was matte (dry) it will look like skin or shall I say “second skin”. It looks absolutely natural. If u want more coverage it is easily buildable. What I also liked about it is that when you hear the word “matte” or “dry”- then you will think that the foundation will dry up your face and might look cakey. However, with this product it really hydrates my skin and I didn’t feel that it dried up my face at all ( I have combination skin)- It might depend from skintone to another.

How to pick your shade?

The shades are slightly similar to the Makeupforever HD foundation (liquid)- not 100% exact- but close to them. I’m a mix of 2 colors in the HD (128 and 155)… but since with powders u can’t mix, you will realize that one might suit you better than the other. With this pro-finish powder- the 155 is closer to my skin tone than the 128.

20130113-010600.jpg

My experiment (dry for matte finish)

I really suggest NOT using the sponge that comes in the tub- instead use a powder brush/ buffer brush/kabuki- suits best and applies the color much better than a sponge. The brush blends it beautifully.

20130113-010505.jpg

I loved how this powder looks very natural and perfectly suits my skin. It doesn’t look cakey and doesn’t feel dry. If you have an oil problem then this will help in mattifying the oils off your face.

My experiment (wet for satin finish)

Wet a sponge (not the one in the tub) or your brush gently, then remove the excess water and take some powder using the wet applicator.

20130113-010457.jpg

When wet, the color appears to be more vibrant and I feel that there is more coverage when it is applied wet. If you still want more coverage after this, you can apply powder (dry) on top.

Just keep in mind **** When applied wet- it goes darker (so be careful). You can take a shade lighter if you want to just apply it wet as it might go darker.

To actually see how the product looks like on skin (WET VS. DRY) – see the picture below:

20130113-010449.jpg

You shouldn’t worry about the powder when it is wet that it won’t go back to powder- the powder will look wet even when it is dry but just dust it off and it will look good as new.

5 My Review: the “Beauty Balm” by Too Faced

  • August 12, 2012
  • Mai Al Moayyed
  • · Face · Foundation · Miscellaneous · Skin Care

Not all brands have beauty balms… and the disadvantage in many brands is the limited shades….

First…. what is a beauty balm?

Basically, it’s a type of foundation that aims to cover blemishes, offer good coverage, and blend properly onto the skin with a satiny finish. It is also known to improve the skin & treat it. Started off in the Asian (Korean) markets and now they are sold worldwide! They do contain SPF and they are the replacement for tinted moisturizers or even foundations!

Well, I’m here to review this special beauty balm from TooFaced!

20120812-161603.jpg

I purchased it a month ago and I have been using it since… I’m loving it!!

Lemme explain more about it..

This beauty balm is available in 4 shades:

Vanilla Glow (light skin tone), Cream Glow (light to medium), Nude Glow (medium), and Beach Glow (deep skin tone)

I have 2 shades- the Nude Glow & Beach Glow. For when I’m tanned I used Beach glow & for the rest of the year I’ll use the Nude Glow!

About Too Faced BB Cream

20120812-161558.jpg

The Too Faced Beauty Balm (BB cream) does give u not only beauty benefits but skincare benefits. The balm has a multi-mineral complex that gives u a healthy glow and will improve the skin’s appearance over time.

This special balm consists of light diffusing pigments which instantly hides wrinkles/fine lines. It is also anti-aging so it will prevent damage. It moisturizes & is oil free… Great for all skin types and most importantly SPF 20 (which is great- considered high). It contains Vitamins A &E + Chamomile which nourishes your skin.

20120812-161613.jpg

What you might not know about it- It is a MULTI USE… Meaning that you can use it as a primer to prep your skin before foundation or use it on its own.

MY REVIEW

I’m currently using this bb cream daily – morning or night & i’m surprised by how Im addicted to it! This stuff is pretty good! I have sort of ditched tinted moisturizers & always use this!

What’s awesome about it is the glow it gives (not shiny or oily) but simply a radiance.

20120812-161547.jpg

I do use it like a tinted moisturizer- with my hands- rub on all my face and make sure no excess lines but just patting with my fingers and slightly smudging. Then I would def apply some concealer on top and powder all over. Sometimes when i want an even more natural finish- I would use the balm on it’s own with no powder on top.

This bb cream is medium-full coverage! But you don’t actually feel it heavy or anything- it’s like it is barely there! Those tiny blemishes and acne scars. If the bb cream does not fully cover your blemishes then I suggest adding setting powder on top.

20120812-161552.jpg

Beautiful coverage & smooth skin & non greasy!… And the greatest part of all – it is super quick! For mornings or a night out – it is a quick fix! The product is easily bendable like a cream- but make sure to clean your hands after or you’ll make everything you touch beige.

20120812-161620.jpg

Once it is blended- it automatically gives off a glow/radiance

20120812-161608.jpg

20120812-161625.jpg

The tube itself looks small but it will stay a while! As I said I have been using this product daily for a month and it is still halfway full !

I hear this product is amazing for older women- as it really treats their skin & hides those fine lines etc.

I promise you- you won’t be disappointed by this product!

This product is available in SEPHORA worldwide…. and YES- IT IS AVAILABLE IN BAHRAIN SEPHORA :) around 18 BD

2 Hello Flawless! Benefit’s new liquid foundation- My review

  • May 17, 2012
  • Mai Al Moayyed
  • · Foundation

Well, Hello Flawless!! You are finally here!!

20120517-114956.jpg

When I saw it in sephora I quickly took my shades and hurried home to try them! Now this is the moment where you have all been waiting for- my review..

Is this foundation as good as people say it is? Well.. I’m here to tell u!

This foundation is called “Hello Flawless… Oxygen Wow SPF 25 Brightening Makeup“. Keep in mind that this foundation took 3 years to develop!

20120517-115003.jpg

20120517-115052.jpg

It comes in 9 shades (ranging from fair to dark)

In Light: “Believe in Me” IVORY, “I’m Pure 4 Sure” IVORY, and “I’m Plush & Precious” PETAL.

In Medium: “Cheers to Me” CHAMPAGNE, “I’m So Money” HONEY, and “I’m All the Rage” BEIGE.

In Deep: “Warm Me Up” TOASTED BEIGE, “I’m So Glamber” AMBER, and “I’m Hopelessly Hot” HAZELNUT.

The formula has a “brightening” ingredient which uses the “OXYGEN WOW HYDRATING COMPLEX” with vitamin C & E (anti-ageing). The oxygen wow complex actually helps protect against environmental stress and boosts cellular respiration.

20120517-115032.jpg

20120517-115021.jpg

What I LOVE :

I love how the liquid is very light in texture- Makeup4ever HD is a tiny bit heavier. What I mean is that it is loose in consistency.

This foundation really does the job covers well, stays a long time and feels very light when worn.

I absolutely love how it feels so easy to let my pores breathe when i wear it. I feel like I am wearing nothing on my face, when actually I am! I love the packaging !

20120517-115145.jpg

As the bottle says, you will look more “healthy” – you actually feel it! I can’t actually describe it. The SPF also protects against the sun + hydrates the skin!

I have tried this foundation with several different powders on top (to set it) & I’m telling you it works with everything! I have tried Chanel/Clinique/smashbox/mac etc (loose & compact) in yesterday’s experiment- and it goes well with powders!

20120517-115012.jpg

I believe this is a great foundation to have- and I can tell you this- It is perfect for everyday!!! It really does the job. I would re-purchase this product again.

What I HATE:

I absolutely love this foundation- but there are some cons with it- But the pros outgrow the cons.

I believe there is not enough shades. Nine shades is not enough. At least 15! It was hard for me to choose my shade i had to mix alot to find the right one- so many of you might need to get 2!

20120517-115141.jpg

The other flaw is that because of its light consistency- be very careful when u apply it on your hands/palm as a palette then on to ur face. It tends to melt quickly- so becareful.

One more thing- again because of its light consistency, it doesn’t cover acne scars/blemishes that well. So make sure you cover them with a corrector before the foundation so they would actually be hidden.

Other than that- I think this foundation lives up to the hype- it’s great, light & perfect for everyday use. But I wouldn’t use it for weddings etc- just mornings and casual occasions.

0 HYDRAMAX+ … The perfect tinted moisturizer for tanned skin!

  • May 14, 2012
  • Mai Al Moayyed
  • · Face · Foundation · Skin Care

Summer is hereeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Summmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmer is here!!!

WOHOOOOOOO

Well.. 1 more month till i leave … for COSTA DEL SOL!

Summer has a lot to do with the product I’m about to tell you about.

Keep in mind, during summer- your face changes in color- that is if u do tan!

The problem is, many girls apply their usual foundation (which is lighter than what they are after tanning) – making them look greyish!!

Well, I’ll let you in on a little secret. When you are tanned- avoid heavy foundations & stick to tinted moisturizers!

TRUST ME ON THIS!

Tinted moisturizers will keep u moisturized all day + feel very light on your skin & they work greatly with a tan! When it’s summer, you don’t want to feel like having cakey skin or layers of makeup on top!

I found the perfect tinted moisturizer – with a shade great for those who have olive skin (like me) and go a bit darker.

You have got to try this product from CHANEL- “HYDRAMAX + ACTIVE TEINTE”

20120510-224746.jpg

In english- it’s a hydrating lotion with a tint (some foundation with it) for additional color.

What is great about it- it is intensly hydrating and it gives u a beautiful natural healthy glow! The product consists of a Hydrabarrier System- which locks moisture in!

20120510-224801.jpg

The shade suitable for tanned skin is “BRONZE 20″. This shade might not suit everyone- but if you are tanned.

20120510-224754.jpg

There is 2 other shades (Sunlit & Sand) – lighter ones if you are lighter.

Apply this tinted lotion just like you apply normal cream- with your hands all over. Make sure it’s blended well! (WASH UR HANDS AFTER) If you like, you can even top it off with a hint of powder or translucent powder to remove any shine/oils.

KEEP IN MIND: this is not a tan enhancer. It will not change the color of ur tan permanantly. It’s just a lotion.

Just to show you, I have constructed a little experiment!

Below is a photo with 3 swabs of unblended liquids. Please note that my hand is slightly tanned- thanks to SHANGRI LA OMAN- well anyways, so my foundation has become way lighter than my hand.

20120510-224820.jpg

The pic below shows you the 3 liquids- Blended- and how they look on tanned skin. Please note that the Chanel tinted moisturizer completely matched the tanned skintone- while the foundation made the area look greyish- simply cuz it is lighter than the skin!!

0 Love at first sight: illamasqua’s new skin base foundation – REVIEW

  • January 30, 2012
  • Mai Al Moayyed
  • · Face · Foundation

So as u all know i was in Dubai a few days ago- just a quick getaway.. And also to re-stock on some of my makeup products!

I have been dying to try this foundation from this well known brand (in the west) “illamasqua”- British brand ofcorse  ( I luv the Brits by the way)..

20120130-121858.jpg

Famous makeup artists worldwide rave about this foundation constantly- among them are pixiwoo & hudabeauty !

So i went to Bloomingdales in dubai mall & got my illamasqua SKIN BASE FOUNDATION. It’s not as big as other liquid foundations- but the results were WORTH IT!

20120130-121904.jpg

20120130-121831.jpg

20120130-121825.jpg

20120130-121849.jpg

The shades come in a range of 18 shades. Picking out the correct shade is quite tricky i suggest u check the shades for yourself if u travel to the UK/states/Dubai since for example ( shade #10 is for a yellow undertone but #11 which is for a pinkish undertone but 12 is yellow/beigi. So it’s quite tricky.

20120130-121841.jpg

I had to mix 2 shades to get my matching color i took shades “#10 & #12″ and mixed them!

20120130-121909.jpg

The result:

I’m telling u girls- this foundation is a must have- you will luv it!! I promise u!

What i love about it is that it’s not heavy at all- it feels so light but the coverage is unbelievably good!! It covers everything but doesn’t feel like it’s there! I sweat it is super soft & is not yellow (unlike MAC foundations)!

It’s the perfect skin tone color! Ohhh soooo flawless.

I dab it with a beauty blender to even it all out after applying it with a brush.

Removes any dull complexion underneath & becomes even more amazing when finishing powder is applied on top. I use chanel’s universalle loose powder just to make it set.

In addition to makeup4ever HD & chanel’s foundations.. The illamasqua skin base foundation goes on top of the list.

It’s one of those foundations that stay long enough for a full day(if it had the perfect base of creams underneath)!

Where to get it from?

You can get it on bloomingdales dubai or worldwide(not in bahrain ofcorse – it’s the land of NO new brands).

You can also order online through illamasqua’s website www.illamasqua.comor even check out my friend’s blog

http://khalijishoppingguide.com/2012/01/29/illamasqua-make-up-for-your-alter-ego/ about how to order & dilevery costs of illamasqua online!

7 Vitacolor- Kryolan’s best creamy foundation

  • · Foundation
IMG_2921

I tried this foundation a few months ago, and i can tell you- vitacolor – is the best foundation from kryolan for high coverage!!

It will cover anything! It is really great for people with heavy acne.

What is different about this foundation is that it comes in a tube!

It’s enriched with vitamins. It comes in a wide variety of shades.

It’s known in the makeup industry as “grease paint”. Looks and feels greasy, but don’t worry- the result is not!

I use a small dot on my hand, and with a brush apply all over my face. To be honest, this little dot is more than enough!! This cream is highly concentrated so very little can actually apply A LOT!

Even though you don’t hsve acne, it is still a great foundation to use!! Give’s you that flawless look-  but i feel it is slightly heavy for daily… But it is a MUST for those with acne!!

You can find Kryolan in Seef mall, dana mall, Riffa & Busaiteen.

2 Colorescience Pro- the innovative choice of mineral makeup!

I’m sure many of you might have not heard about this brand “Colorescience pro”- and so did I- until a few weeks ago when my friend introduced me to them!

I tried some samples & i must say.. they are amazing!

(a few products will be sold in my makeup workshop!!)

Lemme tell you more about this brand.

Basically, colorescience pro is a brand with NO CHEMICALS/PRESERVATIVES! All of the products are free of talc, mineral oil, alcohols, emulsifiers, dyes & perfumes. It claims to give you beautiful results without infecting your skin with harsh preservatives. The brand provides a huge line of makeup- few of lipsticks & eyeshadows, but mostly skincare & foundations (face products).

What i came to love about their products is how they stop anything from coming into your pores. Also, i love how many of their products come in a tube- a brush on one side & a powder in the other. This makes it so convenient & easy to use! I realized that their products DO cover imperfections amazingly!

Let me introduce you to some of their best products:

Sunforgettable SPF 30: a lightweight mineral powder with a barely-there feel that provides a safe, non-irritating, instant UVA and UVB sun protection. The self-dispensing powder brush makes this sheer formula easy to apply and reapply throughout the day. Shake it up & puff it on! (6 shades)

Loose Mineral Foundation: SPF 20, takes the mess out of minerals with a simple, self-dispensing powder brush. Get perfect color and coverage every time to achieve a balanced skin tone and glowing radiance. This lightweight powder formula feels as smooth as a cream and doesn’t dry the skin (13 shades)

Sunreliable Primers: SPF 30, provides a high level of non-irritating, instant broad spectrum UVA and UVB sun protection while evening skin tone and creating a more youthful texture. This comes in different types: skin brightner, skin bronzer, skin mattifier, skin soother, real menerals.

Mineral blush powder: Nothing is as classically feminine as a cheek with a healthy glow. Colorescience Pro’s Mineral Blush Powder works gracefully with your skin and foundation to add just that hint of gorgeous, natural colore. The result is a long lasting, natural looking colore that seems to come from within (5 beautiful shades)… This is my favorite.. the blushes are amazing with a hint of shimmer.

Mineral bronzer powder: Much more than just a self-tanner, Colorescience Pro’s Mineral Bronzer Powder can be used for contouring and highlighting, adding richness and warmth to your complexion. It let’s you layer and blend your colore so you can achieve a weightless, healthy-looking glow every time. (4 shades)

They are not sold here, but you can always order online!

5 Chanel Vitalumiere Foundation- Satin Smoothing Fluid

chn3

This is the foundation I have been talking about yesterday! This foundation from Chanel is so special to me. It is simply amazing.

I have been recommending makeup up forever HD foundation for some time, & I still do- I love it- but this Chanel one is different. It basically gives you an all over glow. Other foundations give a slightly matte effect, & you have to add shimmer etc to make your face all glowy.

So it’s called Chanel “Vitalumiere” Foundation- Satin Smoothing Fluid Makeup! There’s another similar one called “vitalumiere aqua”.

The Vitalumiere has a beautiful texture. It’s very soft, delicate & light. It makes your complexion flawless with an natural glow. Really- I’m not joking- a real glow (NOT OILY GLOW). It makes your skin appear fresh & energized. You will achieve the “nude” beauty look with the glow it gives- as if your face is glowing from within!

The formula includes SPF 15, & the fragrance it gives off smells like freshness! Full coverage & the result is a radiant glow! Even after applying some powder or skinfinish on top, the glow is still there! This foundation is pricy though!

HOW TO USE:

Since this foundation is lighter than the rest- I deeply recommend using a stippling brush. You can always use it with the MAC190 foundation brush, but I prefer the MAC 130 brush- a small duo fibers brush for a flawless & airbrushed look. Apply all over with the 130 brush, then take a sponge & dab all over to remove excess oils!

I personally use the shade 45 (rose).  A shade slightly lighter would be 32 (epice)

THIS PRODUCT IS A WINNER…

4 The Perfect Powdered Foundation? POWDER POWDER POWDER

  • September 19, 2011
  • Mai Al Moayyed
  • · Face · Foundation · Powders
photeeo

Many girls are asking me: What is the best powdered foundation? Many girls want to know. When I say powdered foundation- I don’t mean loose powder. I mean-the compact powder (pressed powder) in which u apply it with a sponge (some ppl apply it by brush).

If you have oily skin- powder is the way to go (although liquid foundations with mattifiers –oil free- are available). Powder tends to absorb the oil, but the trick is- to find one that doesn’t give you the “CAKEY” effect!!

I have tried A LOT of powders, trust me. The Holy Grail of all foundation powders- I must say is KANEBO. It’s a Japanese company which specializes in skincare & makeup, and many girls swear by this product.

The KANEBO “Sensai Foundation”- Total Finish- includes SPF 15, & will glide on easily + firmly onto the skin.

The finish is long lasting. You use it as any other foundation- and for best results; use it with the sponge which comes with it, inside the compact.

There are a variety of shades:

I was using this foundation for the past 6 years. I love it!! I have an olive skin tone, so i used to have shade 204.5 and 205. I stopped not because there’s something wrong with it, but because I switched to liquid based foundations. It is an amazing product; it beats MAC’s + Chanel’s powders. This product- guaranteed- won’t give you the CAKEY effect. It is very smooth & will last long!

It’s Refillable: You buy the foundation in the compact case for starters, after it’s finished, you refill your compact case with a new foundation!

5 MY PHOTO TUTORIAL- How to mend your broken eyeshadows & blushes!!!

I decided to show you how to mend your broken eyeshadows/blushes, on my own, instead of videos. It’s very easy, just follow the steps.

This is my broken eyeshadow. I love this shade, it’s Nylon-from MAC.

Take any wand or stick and crush the broken pieces even more- make it EXTRA CRUSHED

Get a coin, make sure it fits the eyeshadow exactly, same size.

Take the coin and wrap it in a tissue, like the picture below. Then keep the wrapped tissue on the side.

Go to a pharmacy and buy a “Rubbing Alcohol/ Alcohol Disinfectant” – a bottle.

After crushing the eyeshadow (within its pan), pour a few drops of alcohol on it. Make sure to not pour too much.

It has to be a thick paste. If it became to watery, let it dry for a few hours.

Take the wrapped up coin in tissue and press it on the paste. You can press & twist it in a circular motion.

It will look like this, after being pressd. You can smooth it out any way you like

Let it dry for an hour or so, then place it in your palette, if you have one.

YAY! Mission accomplished!

This new MATCHMASTER foundation (with SPF 15) is totally different than what MAC usually sells.

It has this awesome technology that allows you to easily color-match your complexion. Besides being moisturizing, it’s DEMI MATTE “sometimes matte” (easily buildable which will give a soft focus effect on your face & doesn’t require powder later).

 Shades range from 1.0, 1.5, 2.0, 3.0, 4.0, 5.0, 6.0, 7.0, 7.5, 8.0, 8.5, 9.0, 9.5, 10.0  (All Medium/Demi Matte)

The collection also re-introduces the 193 Angled foundation brush, and the famous 190 foundation brush.

CAN’T WAIT TO GET MY HANDS ON IT!

US Launch – Sept 22,2011. Asia + Middle East- big delay (end of year)

4 MY REVIEW: MAKEUP FOREVER HD Foundation

  • · Foundation

I’m always on a mission to find the best Foundation. I try almost any foundation I see and compare it with the best. Once I write about it, then it means it’s tested & verified.

This is my all time favorite foundation!

MAKE UP FOR EVER “High Definition Foundation”- also known as the ‘invisible cover foundation’.

Applying it by my MAC 190 brush or MAC 130, I feel that it is two times lighter than MAC’s liquid studio fix. As an olive skinned person- I use shade 128.

Why HD?

This innovative formula is created to seem invisible on HD cameras & the naked eye. It is an oil free formula, that is not that heavy, but will eventually cover all imperfections. It is designed to make you look your best in even the harshest lighting.

Works well with oily skin. Your skin will look flawless, yet natural with a NON-CAKEY Finish.

Super amazing product quality- long lasting- and FLAWLESS FINISH!!!!

This foundation is a winner!

2 #2 Makeup Mistake: Choosing the wrong foundation TYPE

So, not only your colour should be right (previous post), but the type you choose must suit your skin tone. If the foundation is too thick: Your skin might break out! If the foundation’s too light: there’s no use!

Let’s categorize your skin type, with the suitable types of foundation:

DRY SKIN:

-          You need moisturizing foundation (creates a light base)

-          Liquid foundation is the answer ( has extra moisture)

-          Tinted moisturizer is an option

NORMAL SKIN:

-          Matte foundation.

COMBINATION SKIN:

-          You need moisturizing foundation

-          It must be OIL- FREE

-          Can be liquid/creamy/powdery

OILY SKIN:

-          You need a “ MATTE” Foundation

-          Must be OIL-FREE- to reduce the “shine”

-          Preferably liquid that dries into powder, but texture is thicker than moisturizing foundation

-          CAN use powdery foundation, to absorb oil.

SENSTITIVE SKIN:

-          Foundation – ( WITH NO PERFUME)

-          Mineral makeup is the solution

ACNE PRONE SKIN:  Choose a medicinal or Oil- free foundation, or  Matte foundation. Don’t use heavy type, as it might aggravate your skin.

OLDER SKIN/PROBLEM SKIN : good to use creamy foundation for full coverage

0 #1 MAKEUP MISTAKE: WRONG FOUNDATION COLOUR

  • July 4, 2011

  • · Foundation

Most women do not test their foundation colour before buying it. You don’t want a foundation colour that is darker or lighter than your skin colour. You must test it, but NOT on your wrist/hand!

Your face colour differs from your arm. The best way to test it is on your cheekbones.

Take 3 slightly similar colours that you might think might suit your skin. Apply each colour underneath the previous one, all on your cheek.

The colour that is closest to your natural skin colour is the proper one. The right colour is the one that disappears into your skin.

Go for yellow based colour for natural (suits major skin tones), & if you are very fair then try pinker shades. Make sure the lighting is also right. Flourescent lighting will make your face look GREEN.

However, you must make sure you choose the right foundation type! Liquid might not suit you, so you have to relate it to your skin type. Same goes to powder.

The 2nd mistake is: Choosing the WRONG FOUNDATION TYPE… Check out my next post!

0 PARTY Time

As I recommended in my previous posts, Makeup4ever’s mat velvet foundation is excellent for daily & light use. However, if you are going to a party/wedding or any other special occasion, a heavier foundation is required. Heavier means it will stay longer + more cover up. It’s a 100% long lasting. Sometimes I apply it at 9 am and 12 hours later… it’s the same!

Obsessed with MAC’s goodies, I use their “Studio Fix Fluid SPF 15”.

Many shades are available, but for olive skin, I recommend NC 40/NC42. NC44 and above is too dark. For fairer skin, the NC-30 range would suite best. You will realize that shades come in “NC” and “NW”. It’s crucial to know the difference. NCàNeutral Cool, and NWà Neutral Warm. Cools have a yellow undertone and Warms are more peachy/pinky.  For example: NC30 is very different than NW30. Double check before buying or get a sample.  NC’s are more natural, and bronzers/skin finishes will remove the yellow paleness.

Many girls get confused on how to apply this product. You can use your fingers but for a better flawless application, I urge you to use the MAC 190 foundation brush. The brush allows greater coverage. I brought the bottle’s pump from MAC and replaced it instead of the cap for easy access. I apply 3 little circles on my hand, and then shake my hand a bit for the foundation to spread. With the brush, I apply the foundation starting on my cheeks & chin (vertical downward motion). Then I move towards the nose in the same motion (also the sides of the nose). The eyes are the tricky part. With the brush I dab 0.5 cm below the eyes.  Finally, the forehead in a horizontal left to right motion. Once this is done, I take a sponge, and blot all over the face to make sure everything’s evened out. Do the same under the eyes to blend the foundation correctly. NOW you will look YELLOW. Do not be afraid. CALM DOWN… Now apply bronze or use the 187 brush to apply skinfinish powder to bring out the proper colour. You have to apply this or else you will look pale.

0 Can’t live without it! Your perfect BASE

Once you try it, you’ll get addicted! Makeup Forever Mat Velvet Plus Matifying Foundation (comes in different shades), is very versatile and long lasting! Gives you a light and matte coverage.

Comparing it with other foundations, this is the easiest to blend, whether it’s with your finger or your sponge. It’s a great foundation base that is so natural & oil free. It’s great because it covers everything without looking cakey of fake.

The darker shades are amazing when topped off with a bronzer to give you that summery/tanned look. This product will give you a flawless look, and I assure you, it won’t make your face look pale in photos! The trick is finding the right shade for you!
