0 One of my top favorite MASCARAs …..

  • May 16, 2013
  • Mai Al Moayyed
  • · Eyes

I get a lot of questions on “What is my favorite mascara” and it is super hard to answer that! I have a lot of favorites – but I’ll show you one which I absolutely LOVE !

This amazing mascara is from ILLAMASQUA- A BRAND I CHERISH AND LOVE AND WOULD DIE FOR!

20130516-221838.jpg

20130516-221915.jpg

The mascara is called ” MASQUARA ” in color “RAVEN”

20130516-221848.jpg

What makes this mascara amazing is that it has all the qualities you want in other mascaras- all bottled in one. It gives you length, seperation, curls, thickens and gives it super volume! Besides- it is SUPER BLACK- jet black! The name RAVEN really suits it- it is as black as a raven!

I had it for a while and forgot about it- but then decided to try it and I was shocked- it really exceeded my expectations!

20130516-221843.jpg

This one has really impressed me- it really makes my lashes look different than any other I have tried. What I also liked about it, it doesn’t make my lashes stick think and pointy- which many others do!

It didn’t clump with me- but i don’t consider it waterproof.

Love the packaging too- just sleek black- clean & classy.

20130516-221854.jpg

The brush is large but not thick/fat- but it really works wonders on volumizing the lashes.

If you want dramatic eyelashes- then this one is a fantastic option.

4 Battle of the Gel liners: Who wins?

20130410-145141.jpg

We are always – constantly – in the search for the best gel eyeliner- in terms of which one has the highest staying power and which one is super black and which one is super creamy!

Well, i’m making life much easier for u girls- see below for my little test (and below you will find out who wins!)

So I have the following eyeliners (the most common ones you hear about)

20130410-145129.jpg

Bobbi Brown (Black ink)

MAC (Blacktrack)

Maybelline (eye studio gel in Black)

Inglot (#77)

Makeup for Ever (#27)

20130410-145134.jpg

Below is also a picture of them being swatched on paper – I wanted to see which one will actually look dry…

20130410-145141.jpg

And you will realize MAC and Bobbi brown are the driest… They are very creamy when you first open them, but over a few weeks they just die out.

Next is a hand swatch to see which is the most creamiest and darkest

20130410-145147.jpg

You will realize that both MAC & Bobbi brown are not the darkest (other than being dry)… You will realize that Mayeblline, Inglot and Makeupforever are among the darkest ! Those 3 were also the creamiest! Makeup forever and Inglot were super super super creamy, so was maybelline but slightly less.

The last test below was to test which one stays the longest and is actually smudge proof! To test that, i decided to remove them from my hand using a makeup remover and guess what ….

IMG_0879-1

Bobbi brown & MAC were the first to get removed…. Followed by makeup forever (which they claim to be waterproof)- I realized if u kept MUFE an hour or so It would be very hard to remove as I tested that before on my eyes. Maybelline stayed…. and shockingly INGLOT remained the same- BULLET PROOF!

Verdict

I would definetly stick to those 3 (INGLOT, maybelline & MUFE). Inglot if you want it to stay smudge free and super dark, maybeline and MUFE if you want something creamy yet still dark… MAC and bobbie- doesn’t reach to the other’s standards!

I absolutely love a super black liner – but even the darkest ones tend to go lighter over time….

I have an amazing product from ILLAMASQUA which makes that super intense black liner!

20121225-165247.jpg

I use 2 products from ILLAMASQUA and mix them together!

I use the following:

An illamasqua slanted angled brush (u can use any – from any brand)

Illamasqua’s black eyeshadow OBSIDIAN

20121225-165251.jpg

20121225-165256.jpg

And Illamasqua’s sealing gel

20121225-165302.jpg

This sealing gel is amazing! It’s basically a tiny bottle with a formula- that changes powders to liquids.

One drop of this product turns any powder into a colour-intense, water-resistant PASTE that dries quickly and lasts for hours. It creates a waterproof finishing and gives off maximum pigmentation!

You can use it with any pigment or eyeshadow and it will turn it to creamy- similar to inglot’s Duraline.

Below are the steps of what I do to create a really dark liner

20121225-165308.jpg

Make sure to apply instantly as the product dries of very quickly! I do apply this past on to my eye 2-3 times to get a dark intense color!

Below are some pictures of the mixed product on my hand- and with a comparison to normal gel liners.

20121225-165313.jpg

Below- you can see how dark and intense the color is compared to dark gel liners!20121225-165321.jpg

It might be a bit hard for you to draw it instantly with this paste, so I suggest drawing it first with a gel liner then tracing over with this paste !

You can find this product in www.illamasqua.com or in middleast (UAE & KUWAIT)

2 MY REVIEW: “SMOKED” Palette by Urban Decay

  • November 1, 2012
  • Mai Al Moayyed
  • · Eyes · Miscellaneous

I have receieved a surprise birthday gift in the mail today…. from a very special friend who lives so far away from me :(

Such a beautiful gift… so I decided to review it!

20121101-210853.jpg

To be honest… when you see pics of the smoked palette online – you don’t really get attracted to it! That is what happened to me… I didn’t like it very much cuz I didn’t feel that the colors were vibrant… But when you actually have it in your hands.. TRUST me… you will change your mind!!!

That is what happened to me- when i saw it & tested the colors- I fell in love … and to tell you the truth- the colors are amazing!

20121101-210859.jpg

Forget about MAC eyeshadows ( which I believe have a high pigmentation).. but if you are looking for eyeshadows that are super rich & vibrant and are somewhat metallic/reflective- then URBAN DECAY eyeshadows are the answer!

The SMOKED Palette

Comes in a zippy case.. includes 10 eyeshadows… 1 24/7 eyepencil.. and a mini original eye primer tube

20121101-210905.jpg

20121101-210910.jpg

I’m very glad that this palette did NOT have a brush- as I really dislike their brushes- find them very stiff- very synthetic and unworkable!

The Black “Preversion” 24/7 glide on eye pencil is SUPER SUPER SUPER BLACK… & trust me when I tell you it is UNSMUDGABLE! I tested it on my hand and had a really hard time removing it! This means if you have watery eyes then this will really stay!

20121101-210934.jpg

20121101-210940.jpg

The palette also has a small book- a how to book- to show you how to apply up to 12 eye looks! I find this very helpful- it will even tell you eye areas- like where is your crease & waterline etc… it is very detailed … reminds me of toofaced how to kits!

20121101-210915.jpg

20121101-210920.jpg

20121101-210925.jpg

20121101-210930.jpg

THE COLORS

Oh.. so beautiful… I’m not just saying this cuz it is a blog … but Im truly IMPRESSED… if you love silver (all shade ranges) or gold or copper etc – this is amazing!! IF YOU LOVE SHIMMER… then this is the palette to get! You can use those colors on their own- or use them on the centre of ur lid and surround with matte colors (my choice)… or you can work with more than one color and pull on the outer > corners!

WARNING: Those colors are HIGHLY PIGMENTED- meaning color excess will fall of on your eye/under eye area so BE VERY CAREFULL and tap your brush before application

BELOW are my hand swatches

20121101-210945.jpg

PREVERSION PENCIL: super dark black- KINKY: neutral beige (matte) – FREESTYLE: brownish peach(matte) – MUSHROOM: gray brown taupe – BACKDOOR: charcoal brown with a hint of grey (matte) – BLACKOUT – black (matte)
20121101-210950.jpg
I would use kinky for a highlight (brow bone) and freestyle to blend above the crease.
20121101-210955.jpg

BARLUST: reddish brown with a hint of gold (shimmery) – ROCKSTAR: dark smoky purple (shimmery) – EVIDENCE: navy blue (metallic/shimmery) – LOADED: green/teal with black undertones – ASPHALT: dark grey with silver micro shimmer.
20121101-211001.jpg

My Opinion

My fav 2 colors where MUSHROOM & BARLUST… They are amazing…

I don’t really understand why it is called SMOKED … I think it should be called metallic or frost hahahaha

SMOKED is more about Matte colors- and this has the majority of NON MATTE colors! You have to be great with blending in order to make those colors look smoked- that is why Matte colors work well to smoke up!

URBAN DECAY IS AVAILABLE ONLINE ( I always get it from amazon or lookfantastic.com) or travel and buy it from all over the world!

0 My Review: Dior SkinFlash Radiance Booster Pen

  • September 12, 2012
  • Mai Al Moayyed
  • · Eyes · Face · Highlighters · Miscellaneous

Most people would consider this a concealer- but to me- I consider it as a brightener/highlighter/concealer than just a concealer.

I really love this product- the DIOR SKINFLASH RADIANCE BOOSTER PEN! I would say it is a great quick fix to brighten you under eye area… If your on the go & in NO mood to use a brush etc.

20120912-123923.jpg

This light booster pen will smooth away imperfections .. it can work greatly underneath foundation of over foundation- or even if you want- WITHOUT ANY FOUNDATION..

It is very very very lightweight…. what it does is removes fine lines and gives back radiance to the skin…

It is sold in5 shades, but most of the time you will only see 3 shades being sold

Dior Skinflash Radiance Booster Pen - Candle Light 002Candle Light 002

Dior Skinflash Radiance Booster Pen - Roseglow 001Roseglow 001

Dior Skinflash Radiance Booster Pen - Sun Beam 003Sun Beam 003

The Shade I use is 003 (sun beam) … darkest shade – but it is suitable for olive skin since it is a hint lighter to brighten up.

20120912-123930.jpg

I love how super creamy it is and very blend-able. However- if u have dark circles under your eye- then u will definitely need a corrector underneath as the DIOR pen won’t cover much of discoloration.

The skinflash is more of a “brightener” .. most of these pen like concealers are brighteners than proper concealers. This is amazing to use on the bridge of your nose too- upper cheek bones.. and even brow bone.. gives instant glow with NO shimmer…

20120912-123937.jpg

To use the pen- you would need to rotate it clockwise from the bottom so the liquid/cream comes out through the brush. After applying with the brush on desired areas- blend with your finger by patting/dabbing or with a beauty blender.

20120912-123942.jpg

20120912-123950.jpg

It doesn’t have that “CAKEY” effect than many concealers show… as it is very light in form of texture. I also love how this pen is very moisturizing… like a cool lotion. Also- it stays for half a day- I would say 8-10 hours…

20120912-123959.jpg

As you can see from the above pic – once you apply the pen & blend it – PIC 2 shows u how it brightens it up instantly!

0 My FULL Review: Maya Loves Aqua Kit from Makeupforever

  • · Eyes · Face · Lips · Miscellaneous · New Collections

I have previously wrote about this limited collection before it launched!

You can read about it here ! The link features her amazing photos and how to achieve them!

Well- The “Maya Loves Aqua” kit from Make up For ever launched in lat June 2012 and it is a fantastic collaboration with Middle Eastern Star “Maya Diab” to emphasize Makeupforever’s famous aqua line!

This collection is all about the aqua collection and how it is really super long lasting and waterproof!

FYI ( this kit consists of mini versions of specific permanent products) with a new addition!

You can get it from Faces, Vavavoom, Debenhams & Paris Gallery!

I do suggest getting it from Faces as it retails for 39 BD (lowest) but you get a free makeup session with your purchase!!! How cool

MY REVIEW

I got the kit once it launched but never got the time to review it — so here we are!

20120812-220746.jpg

20120812-220752.jpg

The collection includes a silver clutch with side studs (Christian Louboutin) ….

20120812-220757.jpg

20120812-220802.jpg

Inside the clutch you will find the following:

Aqua Cream #13 (Beige)

Aqua Liner #13 (Black)

Aqua Rouge 2(rosewood)

Aqua Lip 2 c (rosewood color)

Aqua Smoky lash (Black)

Sens’ Eyes (makeup remover)

20120812-220807.jpg

Aqua Smoky lash

One of the best selling mascaras- volume, length, darkness & WATERPROOF!! I always use it during summer (beach season) because it is super waterproof!

This is a cute little version of it!

20120812-220827.jpg

20120812-220832.jpg

Aqua Eye Liner

A liquid liner which I use nearly everyday! Super Black- very pigmented- sharp precise point to make a winged flick… And Yup .. it is waterproof ! So you can use it for the beach as well!

I constantly talk about this liquid liner on twitter

20120812-220837.jpg

Aqua Cream #13 Beige

Highly pigmented long lasting waterproof cream… with pearly pigmentation… I have used this product before & it doesn’t crease or smudge ( i suggest using a primer underneath anyways)! It is even hard to wipe off! I do suggest blending it superfast before it dries up! Your finger would do or any synthetic brush.

20120812-220812.jpg

The shade is a golden beigy shade with a hint of metallic…you can use this for your eyes and lips! It instantly brightens up your eye since it is a light based color.

20120812-220817.jpg

Aqua Lip 2c

Lip liner which is also waterproof- very water resistant & easy to glide on lips

The color is “rosewood” – super soft so make sure you sharpen it.

20120812-220843.jpg

Aqua Rouge 2

This is the only product in the kit which is NEW-from the new AQUA ROUGE line- amazing two sided lip rouges with a color on one side and a gloss on the other!

This will be a permanent.

The color is rosewood. The aqua rouge provides intense and long-lasting color .. similar to sephora’s lip stain.. It will stay there fore hours and hours…

20120812-220849.jpg

If you want it matte – don’t add gloss.. if you want it shiny then use the gloss.

20120812-220855.jpg

Notice how it becomes matte a few seconds later…

And if you want it glossed up….

20120812-220901.jpg

The aqua rouge is hard to remove (hence- long lasting) – tried it with a wipe and no use…

The sens eyes (below) removed every trace of it!

20120812-220907.jpg

Pic above after trying to smudge it off with makeupremover wipes!

Sens’ Eyes

Famous makeup remover – which basically removes the anything stubborn. Anything waterproof or that doesn’t get removed by wipes- the sens eyes bottle is the solution! IT REMOVES EVERYTHING MAGICALLY!

20120812-220822.jpg

Verdict

Great buy- nice clutch … and fantastic products! Great small miniatures to be placed in bags or clutches.. and fantastic sizes especially for traveling!

To be honest- it is actually a fair price- you get a mascara, lip liner, liquid eyeliner, rouge+gloss, creamy eyeshadow and a makeup remover .. and a clutch all for 39 BD!

2 REVIEW: BLACK TANGO PALETTE from Make Up For Ever !

  • August 6, 2012
  • Mai Al Moayyed
  • · Eyes · New Collections

I’m soooooooo excited to have the Black Tango collection in my hands!!!!

The collection is super new and did not launch in the middle east yet- Will launch in Bahrain by Sept 15, 2012 !

Black Tango is an amazing new sultry collection. Danny Sanz, Creator & Artisitc Director of Makeup4ever was inspired by tango dancers and the Latin Spirit of Seduction. Keep in mind Danny has south American Roots! She then created an easy to use and long lasting products to be perfectly tailored to extreme stage conditions!

“For this collection, I wanted to transport us into the hushed atmosphere of the Milonga room.

Black Tango is an invitation to seduction and the world of dance. Behind the delicate lace of a fan, the deep gaze of a woman bewitches a mysterious partner. The two words driving my creativity when creating the products were incredible hold and emotion… for a passionate night of tango.”

Dany Sanz

The collection includes the smoky palette (aqua creams), 3 nail polishes, 1 new aqua cream and 1 new aqua rouge.

The collection is limited Edition- and I’m going to focus on the eye palette now!

BLACK TANGO PALETTE

This beautiful palette shows a beautiful laced fan printed… beautiful packaging! All red and black- colors of seduction.

20120806-161319.jpg

20120806-161324.jpg

20120806-161336.jpg

20120806-161341.jpg

The palette has 4 new aqua cream shades- all new & limited edition.

They are super pigmented- and they have a pearly effect.

20120806-161351.jpg

The colors are:

*Black with Red Highlights

*Black with Green Highlights

*Black with Blue Highlights

*Ivory

20120806-161346.jpg

To me, those color scream smoky & call for mystery! Usually when you hear the word smoky you would straight away think black, but I love how this if focused on other dark shades. Recent Smoky palettes are all powder based- so to be aqua cream and dark really makes this palette unique!

20120806-161356.jpg

You can apply with your fingers, as they are super creamy or use the double sided flat brush provided in the palette. I usually throw out such brushes, but I actually liked this one !

I really liked how the eyeshadows blended easy & melt away when applied- they don’t need to be mixed with any liquid etc. The colors tend to look matte after application, but with a hint of pearl in them.

I suggest using synthetic brushes with aqua creams- and not ones made from real animal hair!

The ivory I would use for highlighting and the rest I would use for full lids.

To be honest, these aqua eye shadows are super long-lasting!!! They are waterproof too! I also heard that the creamy eye shadows include some oils which Evaporate straightly after application in order for the pigments to be fixed on the skin.

Checkout my swatches below to see how the colors really look like:

20120806-161406.jpg

20120806-161412.jpg

Below is a special illustrated guide to show how to use on of the creamy eye shadows!

http://joeychong.files.wordpress.com/2012/07/education-launch-pad-black-tan_source-file_00007311-1.jpg?w=1330&h=941

The only thing you should keep in mind is that the product is very long lasting & waterproof which means removing it is really annoying… U might try wet facial wipes… they won’t remove the whole thing. So I really suggest makeup4ever’s sensitive eyes waterproof removing solution! With a cotton pad, it will be gone in seconds!

20120806-161416.jpg

The palette will be sold for approx in the 18-20 BD range.

You can buy this product in Make Up For Ever (After the launch on Sept 15) in the following stores:

0 REVIEW: “Earthly” Eyeshadow from MAC Heavenly

  • August 3, 2012
  • Mai Al Moayyed
  • · Eyes · New Collections

FYI: This collection has launched worldwide and will launch Aug 14 in Bahrain.

The other thing which I got from the MAC heavenly creature collection is the “EARTHLY” eyeshadow!

20120803-162809.jpg

20120803-162817.jpg

20120803-162831.jpg

Earthly eyeshadow is basically a swirl of beige, peach and cool brown with some gold.

20120803-162824.jpg

20120803-162839.jpg

To be honest.. I dislike this product! What you see is NOT what you get!

20120803-162846.jpg

The packaging shows you colors of beige, brown & gold… however…. what you GET is actually a taupe grey color!

Once those colors are mixed- the color becomes tinted with grey and very little brown is shown.

I purchased the product thinking that with the mixture of such colors i would get a beautiful brownish gold color- but what i actually got was a metalicish Grey!

If you like greyish eyeshadows with a pearly metallic sheen- then get this one! If you want it so somewhat be brown/gold… then this is the wrong one to take!

20120803-162922.jpg

Looked amazing on the pan.. but once it was blended.. looked disappointing!

Couldn’t try it in store as they were super neat & the customers did not touch them!!

However, the color payoff is not bad and good pigmentation!

0 The Peche Cuivre bronze eye pencil- Summer De Chanel collection- My Review

  • June 22, 2012
  • Mai Al Moayyed
  • · Eyes · New Collections

This beautiful collection from Chanel “Summertime De Chanel” screams summer. It includes a mixture of sophisticated nude & coral lips, a mix of muted browns and a focus on glowing bronzed skin!

Chanel- always keeping it classy- opt for pretty simple and subtle shades instead of extra bright hues for the summer.

As Chanel describes it, “Sun-kissed cheeks, magnetic eyes, and radiant beauty”.

The Crayon Khol from this collection is a really unique one!

Unlike the classic crayon khol’s from the permenant collection- Noir, Blanc & Clair- this one is totally different.

It’s “Peche Cuivre” #75 eye pencil ..

20120620-144912.jpg

It is a tanned/bronzy eye pencil! It seems to be peach but when used it shows goldish/bronzish hues. It captures the exact color of bronze mixed with copper.

20120620-144931.jpg

So you apply it inside the eyelid rim- and it instantly adds sparkle to your eyes and also makes your eyes look bigger- since it’s a light color. My suggestion is to layer it more than once to really show the color (you really need to apply a lot to see that golden sheen). The formula is smooth and glides easily. You can always use it on the outer part of your upper lid- instead of the black winged eyeliner- will look gorgeous for summer!

20120620-144950.jpg

20120620-144943.jpg

This eyepencil can be used all year and not just in summer.

If you ever tried the pigment “TAN” from MAC- you will notice that it is quite the same color!

20120620-144957.jpg

I’m a huge huge huge fan of Chanel pencil liners- I consider their crayon khols the holy grail of all pencil liners.

20120620-144937.jpg

Long lasting + fantastic quality + intense color – In all their shades!

The beautiful eye pencil compliments your bronzed cheeks! Yes, it is limited edition…

Sadly… so get your hands on it now before it disappears.

See my swatches below

0 WARM THUNDER- MAC ‘In Extra Dimension’ Eyeshadow Review

  • June 4, 2012
  • Mai Al Moayyed
  • · New Collections · Eyes

As you know, I have purchased a few products from the MAC “In Extra Dimension” Collection recently…

I also got some eyeshadows. And I’m going to give you my feedback on the eyeshadow ” WARM THUNDER” !

20120604-142950.jpg

20120604-143026.jpg

PACKAGING

Those eyeshadows come in the normal MAC eye packaging- but it is double the size of the permanent MAC eyeshadows…. So I believe this will stay for a very long time. So thank god they are big in size as they are limited edition. The eyeshadows are eye catchy!

20120604-143016.jpg

20120604-143033.jpg

FORMULA

Other than the 3D texture, it is considered a new formula- can be used WET or DRY. It does stay up to 6 hours- but I love applying a primer before to make it last even longer. The Finish of this product is more frosty but not very metallic (like what they claim it to be).

20120604-143040.jpg

COLOR

I describe this color as a dirty greyish silver. It is not silver and not grey- but both mixed together. What I noticed is the blue undertones that this shade has- when applied on the eye it does give a light blue tinted sheen.

The color is vibrant (good pigmentation) ! And I have realized that there is slight shimmery particles that don’t show unless zoomed in.

20120604-143046.jpg

I love how buildable the color is.

The color brightens up the eye- and It looks darker in the pan that when it is actually applied on your eye.

You can wear this color on its own, or add a hint of soft brown around the edges!

0 ‘Rich Core’ – A beautiful shade of rich purple -MY REVIEW

  • June 1, 2012

  • · Eyes · New Collections

So I recently purchased some products from the MAC “In extra Dimension” collection! Don’t worry I will review them all soon- hopefully!

I got this one product which I absolutely fell in love with… Other than their amazing highlighters.

I’m not a fan of colored eyeshadows- meaning I’m more of a neutral shades person- I love the browns and sandy shades the most.

BUT THIS PURPLE SHADE TOOK MY BREATH AWAY!!

20120601-121031.jpg

The eyeshadow is called “RICH CORE“… the color lives up to its name.. VERY RICH INDEED! Keep in mind that it is LIMITED EDITION!

THE PACKAGING

It is double the size of normal MAC eyeshadows. And the 3D texture is what grabs the attention! I love the presentation of this collection’s eyeshadows….

20120601-121039.jpg

20120601-121046.jpg

THE FORMULA

A special formula- liquid power … with the 3D prismatic effect it will instantly sculpt what ever you want. The formula consists of some shimmer. It is cool, creamy and silky and I believe it will create a beautiful defined finish. Yes.. they blend easily!

20120601-121053.jpg

THE COLOR

I describe this color as a rich yet dirty eggplant color. A plum like/purplish color! The color gives of a burgudy sheen too. So it has some brownish undertones that reflect within the purple. When you take a closer look, you will realize there are tiny shimmery particles which- don’t show as much unless you zoom in.

20120601-121103.jpg

I wore this color the other day & I have recieved a lot of compliments! You just have to make sure you blend the edges… and build the clor of course. One coat is not enough.

20120601-121116.jpg

When applied- it is like I have mixed two MAC eyeshadows together– Satin taupe + Sable… to get this result.

Below is another hand swatch where the rich color is shown clearly!

I personally love Makeup4ever’s aqua cream eyeshadows… And they have just made it easier!!

They have added CUTE CRAYON LIKE Pencils to the Aqua family.

The colors are smudge-proof and long lasting. Greater news- it works well against humidity!! The formula in each of those pencils has a special ingredient that locks water out!

0 They’re Real !!! BENEFIT’s mascara review

  • April 9, 2012

  • · Eyes

I have always always always favorited L’Oreal mascaras.. and I still do.. and the mascara I’m about to review is competing with L’Oreal.. in terms of volume.. intesnsity & length!

“They’re Real” mascara by Benefit has been in the market for approx 5 months now…

20120409-154824.jpg

20120409-154829.jpg

20120409-154840.jpg

The packaging is a shiny mirrorish tube…. but what is interesting is the BRUSH!!

The brush is specially designed! Unlike any other brushes I have seen. It’s plastic & rubbery – cactus looking. It is very spiky with more spikes towards the end of the brush.

It can be a bit rough on the eye (because of the spikes)- so be gentle with it cuz it is very rubbery. So be careful to not poke your eye with it!

20120409-154847.jpg

The special brush must be used horizontally to grab the lashes from the roots .. then you turn it Vertically to use the spiky ends to define the curls and properly curl them.

20120409-154834.jpg

The formula: it feels soft yet it is somewhat thick. What I love about it is the color intensity: JET BLACK!

I would say don’t apply more than 2 coats- then it would look to clumpy/chunky.

This mascara provides you with everything a girl needs when it comes to lashes: It really curls them, it lengthens them instantly and is purely black!

MY VERDICT: this mascara lives up to its name… IT GIVES U A FALSE LASHES EFFECT– making ppl ask you “are you wearing false lashes” and you would say- ” NO!! THEY’RE REAL!”

0 How to get that eye look?! Defined outer V

So I decided to teach you the steps of this quick eye look I did yesterday- instead of just posting a pic on twitter

20120316-134520.jpg

It’s not that hard- needs a bit of blending though!

I used MAC eyeshadows only! And I didn’t use false lashes this time.

20120316-134610.jpg

20120316-134531.jpg

20120316-134525.jpg

HOW TO GET THE LOOK

1. Applied urban decay’s eye primer potion on full lid (to help anti-creasing & to hold eyeshadow for hours)

2. With 217 Mac Brush (Sigma E25), applied “ricepaper” MAC eyeshadow on lid up to the crease.

3. Again with the same brush, topped ricepaper with “Tete a Tint” MAC eyeshadow on top to have a mixture of some peachy skintone shade.

4. Applied a thin line of gel liner (bobbi brown’s ink black) with Sigma E10 brush (without winging it like a cat eye)- kept it short .

5. With a MAC 263 Brush (Sigma E65), applied “carbon” MAC eyeshadow on the outer corners (we call it a V or a ” of the eye.

6. Blend the carbon with a 217 MAC brush or a (sigma E25) to form a blended V.

7. keep on blening until it is connected to the black gel liner applied

8. make sure no harsh line are shown

9. Add some “embark” MAC eyeshadow between the outer V and the mid lid- and also blend som under the brow bone (NOT on the brow bone)

10. Apply “nylon” MAC eyeshadow on your brow bone and blend with a MAC 224 brush

11. apply mascara + inner black eye pencil

0 The Z-Palette : Customizable Magnetic Empty Makeup Palette

  • · Blushes · Eyes · Miscellaneous

I’ve had this palette for a while and I keep on forgetting to write about it!!

It’s soooooooo useful!! I LOVE IT!

It’s from a brand called ‘Z- Palette’ : used for professionals to place the different shapes & sizes of eyeshadows/blushes.

20120124-112841.jpg

20120124-112054.jpg

20120124-111957.jpg

I get so frustrated as I am a heavy MAC eyeshadow & blush palette user – and MAC’s eye palettes does not fit any type of eyeshadow nor does the blush palette. Some eyeshadows are bigger or some are squared. The best way is to buy the Z-palette for all those weird different shapes that don’t fit. For example: Nars blushes are squared in shape – don’t go into MAC’s circle palette.. so is bobbi browns!

Why use a palette in the first place?

To be honest, it’s wrong and confusing to keep eyeshadows in their little tubs. That way you want be able to see the range of colors & it won’t be easy access. Laying them down all next to each other makes you know the different shades & also makes you actually use them… some of the shades hidden in their own packaging will make you forget them and will never use them!

I love the Z-Palette… and I find it sooooo useful for everything. It even comes with mini magnets for you to cut and place under metal pans of the shadow/blush to stick in the palette.

20120124-112043.jpg

The palette has a plastic transparent cover which protects your shades. What I love about it is that it’s see through (easy to choose)!

This is how my crazy palettes look like- I KNOW THEY ARE MESSY but that is how I work- quick & on the go…

 20120124-112140.jpg

20120124-112148.jpg

I ordered mine from www.zpalette.com

The website features a lot of different sizes (mine is the large) .. they also come in different border styles. Mine is plain black- they come in like the pics below:

0 My #1 silver eyeshadow – ‘VAPOR’ by Urban Decay

  • January 4, 2012

  • · Eyes

I have tried several silver-ish eyeshadows… but it was very hard to find the right one. I tried the different shades of MAC – Elektra (which I didn’t like cuz it somehow had blue undertones, silver ring was a bit too dark, L’Oreal Chrome shine Starry Black had too much sparkle, and lancome had some good ones but in trios.

Then Along Came VAPOR… by Urban Decay!

20120104-121125.jpg

20120104-121201.jpg

I’m telling you- this eyesadow is gorgeous! It’s a shimmery very light silver. It’s shimmery but not so over shimmery, and not white! It is just the perfect silver. It has NO BLUE-ISH undertones (cuz usually many silvers do!)… it’s pure silver… or putting it better, it’s a bright silver… which seriously brightens up the eyes & makes the eyes look more awake.

20120104-121214.jpg

20120104-121221.jpg

20120104-115708.jpg

What I love about this powdered eyeshadow is that it blends beautifully & delivers a very intense color. Also, this color goes beautifully with shades of brown!!! Trust me!

20120104-121228.jpg

20120104-121234.jpg

Always apply on top of Urban Decay’s eye primer for best results (no crease & no fade)! Also looks amazing if applied on tear duct. This is not a new product, it has been in the market for a few years, but it is still one of URBAN DECAY’s best sellers.

Oh .. and yeah the packaging is really funky cool!

I got mine from Amazon.com ! You can get yours from Sephora (dubai) or order it online!

urban-decay-naked2-palette

IT’S HERE!!!!

THE ULTIMATE NAKED PALETTE 2!!!!!

We all loved the famous naked palette, because of the colors!! And now i can’t wait to get my hands on the 2nd one!

There was a pre-sale yesterday of 5000 naked 2, and it is available in URBAN DECAY for $50, sold at sephora etc (JAN 2012) & international by (FEB 2012)

THE NAKED PALETTE HAS ALWAYS BEEN THE BEST SELLING PALETTE IN THE BEAUTY INDUSTRY… BUT WILL THIS ONE TOP IT OFF?

Let’s discuss the difference between this palette & the previous one!

The 1- included a one sided brush & a eye primer potion. The 2- has a travel lip size lip junkie lipgloss in “naked” shade- tried that & reviewed it here ! It also has a double sided brush this time (a one to blend/crease brush)!!!

The shades are very very very similar to the NAKED1 palette… Halfbaked is however repeated!

The shades are as follows:

Foxy – Cream bisque with matte finish

Half Baked – Golden bronze with shimmery finish

Booty Call – Shimmery cork

Chopper – Copper shimmer with silver micro glitter

Tease – Creamy pale brown with matte finish

Snake Bite – Dark bronze shimmer with metallic base

Suspect – Pale golden beige with shimmery finish

Pistol – Light greyish brown with shimmery finish

Verve – Oyster with shimmery finish

YDK – Cool bronze shimmer with metallic base

Busted – Deep brown with shimmery finish

Blackout – Blackest black with matte finish (available in 15th yr anniversary palette)

Here is the comparison between the old one & the new one- Taken from http://www.pinchofpretty.com

4 DURALINE- INGLOT’s way of transfering powder 2 creamy products!

  • Mai Al Moayyed
  • · Eyes · Miscellaneous · Powders
IMG_4153

I’m just amazed by this product!!

It is reallllllly something you should get! I will keep on repurchasing this product!

WHAT IS DURALINE??

Duraline is a product by INGLOT which is a special formula- that when mixed with powder (any) will turn it to liquid- (CREAMY)!!

This means that you can basically use the “pigments” you have bought… transfer them to a creamy formula & apply it as a creamy eyeshadow!

It comes with a convenient  dropper to control the amount you want to use.

I’m going to show you my experiment with MAC pigments, as you can see below- they are in a POWDER form

Added a few drops (2-3 drops) on each pigmented powder

Mix the powder + DURALINE with a brush until it turns to a liquid form

There you have it, Look at how the pigments changed to a CREAMY LIQUID!!

You can see (hand swatch) how the colors look creamy on my hand! Gives a glossy look to those powders with shimmer!

What is also great with DURALINE– you can use it with the CREAMY eyeshadows/gel liners you have to soften them up & apply it really quick & easily!! Also, some gel liners or paint pots are just dried up, so you don’t need to throw them away- just add a drop of DURALINE & it will be good as new!

NOTE: It makes eye shadows and liners smudge proof, & you can play with the color intensity- if you add more duraline in eyeshadows- you will get less color intensity. Less duraline = more color intensity.

A new mascara by Guerlain  will launch in stores by December 2011/January 2012.

Guerlain came up with a new formula for this mascara. Guerlain promises that this formula will boost up your lashes, leaving them looking very stunning. It’s made to lengthen, curl & add volume. It also has a “polymer” which is a protective coat over the lashes.

The packaging is what attracted my attention. The packaging of this mascara is inspired by the Rouge G- lipstick cases in previous collections. These cases come with a small mirror- which is very handy!

The mascara’s will be refillable- The mascara (with compact) will cost $49, and refills will cost $26.

Also, the mascara (black) will have Scents!!!! You can choose between peach, rose, white musk  & jasmine scents!!

1 “SIN”- Urban Decay’s shimmery champagne eye primer potion

IMG_4105

There’s more to the eye primer potions from URBAN DECAY!!

I have been constantly talking about the eye primer potion – original.. The one you apply on your lids before applying eyeshadow – so your eyeshadow won’t crease in the middle, and to help it stay put for over 12 hours!!! I absolutely love the primer potions.. I have it in a couple of tubes- big, small, squeezi tubes, and professional sized ones.. That is how much I’m obsessed by it- CUZ TRUST ME IT’S REALLLLLY GOOD!!!!!!

Well, urban decay also offers the primer potions in different shades!!!!! You have probably not heard of them- but the ones I have been constantly talking about is the original one- transparent color. Looks like beige but is actually transparent. I have reviewed “EDEN” – their matt beige primer in a previous recent post!

I have the Eyeshadow Primer Potion in “SIN”

I’m obsessed with this product! I salute UD for producing this. It’s an eyeshadow in a tube!! This is the fastest applying eyeshadow in the world. 2 dots- and smudge- WOW!! This stuff really makes me happy!

SIN: the color can be described as a shimmering champagne. It’s highly frosted with some tiny shimmers.

This formula will allow your eyeshadow to pop. You can apply eyeshadow on top of it, but I just love to use it on its own!! If used under eyeshadow- it tends to glimmer underneath the shadow- adds glamour! It looks so glamorous on its own- just a black liner + mascara & you’re good to go!

THIS COLOR GOES AMAZING WITH RED/BURGUNDY LIPS. TRUST ME

The pic below shows a swatch sample on my hand, you can see the color

Just apply a few dots on your eyelid & pat it or blend it with your fingertips!

You can order it online, usually from amazon- or get it from SEPHORA dubai.

I have the Eyeshadow Primer Potion in “EDEN”.

This is not a new product, but i love it so much, and sometimes you would need a colored primer (natural), where you can use an eyeshadow on it’s own, or help in acting as a base for eyeshadows on top.

EDEN: a soft beigi color. UD describes it as a nude matte shade.

The difference between this and the ‘original’ shade primer potion is that you can wear EDEN as a primer before eyeshadow OR  ALONE to even out your skintone. EDEN is a good base if you want to mattify your eyeshadows- for satin/matte eyeshadows. It also mattify’s shimmered eyeshadows!

The pic below shows a swatch sample on my hand, you can see the color- my hand looks funny here, ignore it :P

Also, if you have oily lids, dullness, redness, or veins… or even if you need a bit of concealing- This is the way to go!!

Just apply a few dots on your eyelid & pat it or blend it with your fingertips!

IT CONCEALS- IT MATTIFIES- IT ALSO PREPS—— AND PRIMES!!

1 MAC’s ‘TAN’ PIGMENT: My review

  • October 17, 2011

  • · Eyes · Face
IMG_4092

A special eye pigment called “tan”- from MAC, is a new favorite of mine. It’s one of those products that are constantly out of stock… lucky me- I found one!

You would always assume that this little bottle is just messy & why would you apply powder shimmer on your eyelids if you have eye shadow? Right?

Well, pigments are totally different from eyeshadow!! They are powdered and they should be pressed on the skin unlike eyeshadow where you can brush/swipe etc. What I love about this little jar is that it lasts forever- believe me.. It won’t finish! Effects from pigments are very different from the effect of an eyeshadow. Pigments are ofcourse more pigmented- stays put more & tend to have a more shimmery/shiny glow with them (most of them).

The color: this color is gorgeous! It’s a muted pinky brownish bronze- not just bronze! It’s a warm color, with red undertones. It has some shimmers, more metallic looking (which is so in now –trend)!! It can also be described as a golden bronze color.

Where to use it: I would use it with my MAC 239 brush, and softly apply some, tap the brush (to remove any excess powder) then press (I MEAN PRESS NOT BRUSH) on your lids. Press it up to the crease, then apply any dark brown color in the crease to blend. You can also use it on the lid on its own. The color is just amazing- metallic bronze. You can also use a hint of it for the cheekbones for a shine/glow, or in tear duct.

You will love this product especially if you are olive skinned!! Dark/tanned skin goes beautifully with bronzed eyeshadow- and believe me this is quick to apply- simple & natural. Also, if you have hazel or green eyes, it will definitely make your eyes stand out!

cl1

Adding to their smoothie collection, Clinique is adding amazing shades of eye color, called “LID SMOOTHIES” – all coming in an easy application tube. You might think it’s a lipgloss –looks like it- but it’s not!

What’s so special about them?

Each shade contains ingredients like antioxidants, caffeine, cucumber & aloe. So it’s a cooling eyeshadow with healthy protecting & nourishing ingredients. Those 3 ingredients revitalize & also refresh tired eyes. Also, it has Vitamin E, Broccoli, Carrot, Blueberry and Spinach!! Never expected that!

You can apply each shade on its own or add powder eyeshadow on top to change the effect.  You apply it easily on the lid & you can blend it with your finger tips.

I love how each shade can act as an eyeshadow primer/base too.

They come in 12 beautiful shades:

(Many websites claim there’s only 6, but clinique claims it has 12)

-Bit of Honey

-Sassy Fras

-Cute umber

-Pinkgo Biloba

-Born Freesia

-Current Affair

-Cashew Later

-Gingerly

-Impromt Blue

-Seventh heather

-Lick Orice

-Salt &Pepper

Will be launched in the USA (available now) & internationally (give it some time)

2 THINK PINK: My Fav Pink Products

pigment777

Since October is known as the “national breast cancer awareness month”, let’s think pink!

I’m gonna post my all time favorite products- pink of course!

Some I might have wrote about before- so bare with me!

I LOVE:

 MAC’s “expensive pink” eyeshadow

This eyeshadow is a pinkish peachy color. It’s a mixture of bright/baby/&hot pink- all in one tub. Dirty pink with some hints of gold! You might think it’s bold to wear pink eyeshadow, but this one is just amazing on its own!!! (natural looking)

———-

MAC’s “neo-orange” loose eyeshadow pigment

This intense pink salmonish color is one of a kind.  It can also be described as an electric peach, orange mixed with pink.

The trick is using a tiny dot to blend it the “background” of a smoky eye. When blending with black it gives a brownish/copperish color. Don’t be scared from the color- this pink will go beautifully IF BLENDED. DO NOT USE THE PRODUCT ON ITS ONE.. FAIL!

 ———

MAC’s “please me” lipstick

It’s a soft baby pink. It looks gorgeous on everyone! It’s matte though!

———

Bobbi Brown’s pot rouge “pale pink”

Comes in a pot, can be used for both cheeks & lips

A very pinkish pale color or a bright pastel pink- I just luv luv luv this shade!

———

MAC’s “pink swoon blush”

The bubblegum Barbie-ish color! This bright pink color gives you the doll cheeks. Soft pink, very subtle

——–

NARS “Turkish delight” lipgloss

Voted for Best lip gloss for olive skin-2011 “InStyle”-  a dense gloss with a pink sorbet shade, or a milky pink (I would describe). I use it on top of please me or angel lipstick (MAC).

——–

Bobbi Brown “Candy” lip pencil

A medium-bright pink lip pencil- I love this! I love its color. Goes with almost all pink lipsticks- from MAC mostly!

———

Bobbi Brown “Sand Pink” Blush

It is a gorgeous soft pink with a hint of berry shade. Can be also described as a mauve pink blush- gives you a flushed look! It has brown undertones so it will give a natural flush to the cheeks. What I love about it is that it’s not too light & not too dark!

Do not apply a lot of it though!

 ——

It would really mean a lot if you all contribute to charities for this matter- help the patients with breast cancer! Let’s make a difference…

0 Trick: The sponge-tip applicator … Best for?!

spong3

I’m sure you have all seen or bought a brush set or eyeshadow palette that includes a brush (or a mini brush) with a little spongy tip. They might look like these

Some have a round shape, some oval. Some are extra soft, some are stiffer

I tend to find the stiffer ones handier

Yes, and you have thrown them in the trash. They are useless, tiny, etc..

Well, I’ll let you in on a little makeup trick that will really help you out

Do NOT throw those spongy applicators out. Instead, we’ll use them for a great eye-trick

When you are done with your eyeshadow, eyeliner, mascara etc… you have to apply “the brow bone highlighter”… where you apply a shimmery/metallic/frosty/matte color under the eyebrow arch or bone

Many artists prefer doing it with a 217 MAC brush. I find that kind of hard. The brush is sort of big for that area and not precise

I prefer taking this spongy applicator, apply the eyeshadow (highlight for brow bone) with it, & smudge it in a downwards motion on your brow bone

You will feel that it is very neat, pigmented, precise, & smooth

After that, get you MAC 224 brush & gently blend on top of it

TRUST me.. It will give you an amazing side glow

0 My Own Review: Bobbi Brown Tortoise Shell Collection- The Sand Eyeshadow Palette

  • September 29, 2011
  • Mai Al Moayyed
  • · Eyes · New Collections
3

I have wrote about this new collection a while ago, you can check it out HERE.

I  just brought the sand eyeshadow palette- which was sold out when I was in Spain (once it was released) then out of stock back in Bahrain. I have been dying to get my hands on it for a while now!

So mission accomplished, I got it & I’m really really really impressed.

The Sand Eyeshadow Palette is based on neutral colors- the beige, the browns, the rose beiges, & the sand golds.

Those colors- I love!

So the palette comes in a brown turtle shell packaging- & the eyeshadows come in quads, 4 above and another 4 in the bottom (slider). I love how each 4 are organized together to match each other. So the upper 4 (you can do a look with using those 4) & the same with the other 4.

The photo below shows how the colors look like with DAYLIGHT

I would really really really recommend this product to a person who likes to do “the crease effect” & the outer “V”. If you have no clue about eyeshadows- or how to blend them or define them- this product is not for you!! Sorry! Those colors complement each other. One can be used for the lid, one can be used for the crease, another for the brow bone highlight etc. They come in handy, as they are all together instead of buying piece by piece eyeshadow!

Ok let’s review the colors.

The first 4 colors- upper deck:  Ivory, Hot Stone, Taracotta, Desert Sand.

Desert sand is the metallic color here.

An easy look  you can do here. Taracotta on full lid, hot stone to define the crease & “V”, ivory for the brow bone highlight, & desert sand on top of the ½ the start of the lid & to blend.

The swatch for the colors is below:

Just keep in mind “tarcotta” doesn’t show a lot since it’s 100% like skin color.

If you wanted to get some pieces from MAC, they have some similar ones- for example, IVORY=VANILLA(MAC), HOT STONE=MYSTERY(MAC), TARACOTTA=KID or TETE A TINT (MAC)

The 2nd set of 4 colors- lower deck:  Antique Rose, Black Chocolate, Sandy Rose, Gold Bar.

Sandy rose  is the metallic color here, and Gold Bar is a sparkly color.

You can do a really easy look here. You can use the lighter color like antique rose for the  lid, black chocolate to define the eyes in the crease, Gold bar for the upper brow bone highlight & tearduct, and sandy rose on the beginning of the lid.

The swatch for the colors is below:

If you wanted to get some pieces from MAC, they have a similar one for Black Chocolate. BRUN (MAC) is 99% similar.

Remember, To perfect those looks using 4 colors, you must blend blend blend blend. MAC 217 brush is the tool you should never forget.

macmascara

If you are sick & tired of applying false lashes- or even failed to apply them correctly, wait for MAC’s new mascara- the false lashes mascara

It will be available in October-USA & January 2010 Internationally

MAC promise you that their mascara will DELIVER the false lash effect without actually ‘faking it’. According to MAC, this will give you dark, deep, rich, long lasting lashes

It has a big wand/applicator- and the pigment is carbon black. The unique double lush brush will create volume & magnify your lashes. It looks like a standard brush to me- let’s hope it performs up to what MAC claims

Good news: It will be in the permanent collection. Thank god! So don’t fear that it will be off the market

0 Non-Dramatic Effect: The mascara that gives you GREAT but NATURAL lashes…

Many women love the dramatic lash look, but also many women love the natural lash look- a subtle softer look.

“Great Lash” – from Maybelline promises to condition your lashes, thicken them with no clumps & no globs.

It’s a plain & simple mascara. I would call it

“an everything mascara”

The Formula glides on smoothly to build up lashes to look fuller. You can apply one coat for a neutral subtle look or 3 coats for an intense dramatic look. Other mascaras (volumizers etc) look more dramatic from the first coat. I love how I can control the look.  The “soft” lash look is a great choice for an everyday office look.

I love how black it is. It’s one of the darkest colors in the market “Blackest Black”.

This product doesn’t clump (for me). It has a simple applicator wand & brush, not something fancy or spiky. Trust me, if you really want simple beautiful black lashes- this is the product to use.

I’ve reviewed many mascaras in the past- & my focus was for beautiful long volumized dramatic lashes. This is the first product I deeply recommend for natural lashes.

It will give you a thick but NATURAL look. You have to make sure that you are using it properly though. Do the left right (zig zag) motion on your lashes to separate them. And make sure you swirl the wand instead of pumping it from the tube.

2 The Award winning eye cream: Bobbi Brown’s Hydrating eye cream

Do you really need eye cream? Ofcourse you do

Applying an under eye cream is an important step of your daily beauty routine. The skin around your eyes is very delicate. This area is prone to dryness & aging. You really want to slow down the progress of those wrinkles & lines- don’t you? Eye creams will keep this area always lifted, fresh & moisturized.

When eye cream is applied, concealer & foundation sets better.  Keep in mind, when you apply them, apply them before your makeup, & also before bed! A beauty tip- apply eye cream on your lips- will keep your lips moisturized & plumper!

I have received a sample from Bobbi Brown when I was in Germany- so I tried it- & I’m Loving it. I constantly get samples from Chanel & Estee Lauder (eye creams) but I don’t know why, Bobbi Brown was the winner!

It’s called “Bobbi Brown’s Hydrating Eye Cream”

This is a good, solid hydrating eye cream. It consists of those ingredients: Avocado oil, Jojoba Seed, With Hazel, Aloe Vera & Squalane. This eye cream is a fantastic base for makeup (under eyes). I felt that it’s very lightweight & tends to soak in as soon as you apply it. Your skin will feel soft & smooth.

How to use:

Apply with your fingertips- all over under eyes & sides of eye (skin around eyes). Pat gently with your fingers & make sure it is fully absorbed!

What I also love about it- Bobbi Brown doesn’t market her products “This will make you look 10 years younger” or “ this will give you a quick lift in seconds!” etc… She doesn’t do that. Bobbi presents a product & says what it claims to do- & impressively it fully does what it’s supposed to do!

If you feel your eyes are extra dry, get the “extra repair” eye cream from Bobbi Brown. This will target dark circles, puffiness, fine lines & wrinkles. This one might be slightly heavier than the hydrating one. The packaging looks the same- same jar

1 BEST GLUE FOR YOUR FALSE LASHES? MAC Duo Adhesive

We all use fake lashes from time to time- some use them in special occasions and some actually wear them daily!

I was asked recently to write about the glue I use with the false lashes, (although many of u might find it hard to apply the false lashes in the first place)- more on that in the coming weeks!

The glue you use should be really good- or else- you’ll have falling lashes throughout your night out. It should be strong- but not strong enough to ruin your real lashes!

I’m a die hard fan of the “Duo Adhesive”- from MAC.

This is the best glue you will ever find. I have watched 100’s of videos where celebrity makeup artists apply lashes using this glue- they swear by it.

I used to use “Lashgrip” glue- but always found a problem with it. Lashes tend to not stick easily & constantly open up from the corners!

LASHGRIP= FAIL

Duo Adhesive will completely change to rubber-like consistency after being exposed to 30 seconds of air. The key to this product is to allow it enough time to get tacky. Once you take your lash- apply a line of glue from start to end- with 2 dots on the corners. Allow to dry for 20 seconds before application.

I love how it dries clear and you can cover it up with liquid eyeliner. Duo glue has never failed me. It will last all day.

The only negative thing I would say about it is that it doesn’t smell that pleasant. It smells only for a few seconds when u apply glue on the lashes then you won’t smell it anymore!

So I have recieved a question- WHICH EYESHADOW BRUSHES DO I GET?

Here is the answer, I simplified it in a chart!

I’m comparing MAC brushes you need for the eyes to brushes from Sigma- another amazing company which provide the exact same MAC brushes with even better quality (I think) at a better price!

I assure you, sigma brushes are BEYOND amazing! Order them online, click the link below!!

0 Shadow Insurance- an eye primer 2 save ur eyeshadow- from Too Faced

shadowins

So I have been constantly blabbering about how you must apply an eyeshadow primer before color application. Eye primers usually help set the eyeshadows, make them stay for a long time & most importantly disallow any creasing of the color (which is when the color pigment dries & adds up in your socket).

I love love love Urban Decay’s primer potion-

It’s the #1 used primer for the eyes (worldwide)- it’s simply amazing & does the job. I always always always apply it daily before applying eyeshadow.

Many girls are asking me- how can you get it. They don’t sell it here! Get yours online or from Sephora Dubai.

Anyways- I’m giving you the alternative product. You can visit sephora (Bahrain) & get a special product from “Too Faced” called “SHADOW INSURANCE”. The shadow insurance does the same job as the primer potion.

According to Too Faced,

“This is your full-coverage insurance policy against all fading, creasing, melting, blurring, oil slicked, and hard-to-blend eyeshadow accidents. Our silicone based eyeshadow primer transforms any eyeshadow into a perfectly blendable, color-drenched, intensified version of itself, and then locks it down perfectly until you take it off. This soothing formula evens out the skintone on your lids and smoothes lines while securing a barrier between the oils of your skin and your makeup, so no shadow catastrophes will ever happen again.”

I highly recommend this product to be used in your daily makeup routine. Just apply a small dot on each eyelid & smudge all over. That will create a strong natural base. This will allow your shadow to stay over 12 hours. I also recommend it for someone who has an oily lid as it will stop the eyeshadow from creasing.

3 MY PHOTO TUTORIAL: SAVE YOUR DRIED UP GEL LINER!

Yes, I know it’s really annoying how gel eyeliner tends to dry up so fast!! The small jar/tub dries up so quickly whenever it’s left open. I try to minimize the drying by flipping it on a flat surface in between uses.

Ok, so if you brought an expensive gel liner & your sad because it’s dried up, don’t worry- there is a solution!

I’m gonna show you a simple experiment that will save your gel!

You need the following:

-Gel Liner

-Brush

-Hot (boiling) water

-a container/bowl

- a sandwich plastic bag (zipped)

1.  Here is gel liner- all dried up- doesn’t look as smooth during application

2. Close the gel liner properly

3. Place it in the sandwich bag- zip the bag

4. Place hot water in a small container/bowl

5. Placed the bag with the gel inside the hot water filled bowl- Let it sit for 10-13 minutes

6. slowly open the bag after removing it from the water, remove the jar & open it!

You will feel that the gel is soft!! MUCH SOFTER THAN WHAT IT WAS!

You can do this once a month if you feel it’s dried up again! Just make sure the gel cover is always on whenever you’re using it or between uses to get rid of the unwanted air!

0 The EYE Liner Brush – one for a different look (From BeautyLish)

eyeliners

I came across an article about eyeliners, so I’ll post it here. It’s from BeautyLish!

You can also check out the link – http://www.beautylish.com/a/vpiui/best-eyeliner-brush

Beautylish provides a “handy brush guide” to help you out

1. TIGHT LINE

Tight lining gives eyes extra definition without an obvious, drawn-on line. A thin, flat-shaped brush will give you the ability to distribute pigment evenly in between your lashes. You can use a synthetic or natural flat brush, as long as the bristles retain their shape firmly. This brush works best with powder, cream/cake, and gel eye liners. Avoid runny liquid formulas which could potentially irritate your eye.

Beautylish recommends: Laura Mercier Flat Eye Liner Brush

2. Fine Flick

Many Beauties who wear eye liner every day will flick out the outer corners a bit. A bent liner brush is a great tool if you’re new to eye liner and lets you control the fluidity and movement of the makeup so you can draw the thinnest of lines. Build up your line with thin strokes until you have a shape you love. This brush works best with cream/cake, gel, and liquid formulas.

Beautylish recommends: Sonia Kashuk Bent Eye Liner Brush or I recommend Inglot’s 30T bent brush

3. CAT’s Eye

The winged cat eye is one of the most dramatic beauty statements you can make with makeup. A small synthetic angle brush allows you to control the shape of the line. The brush’s sharp, slanted design lets you create both precise angles and thick wings that take up more surface area on the lid. As the most versatile brush of the bunch, it works with all types of eye liner.

Beautylish recommends: MAC 263 Small Angle Brush
